The five types of savings accounts include a regular Share Savings Account, a Smart Apple Savers Savings Account, a Future Investors Club Savings Account, a Holiday Club Savings Account and a Vacation Club Savings Account.

Both the money market account and the Share Savings Account have tiered interest rates. Their best savings account rate is for their Share Savings Account with balances of $50,000 or more. The current savings account interest rate is 1.00 percent with an annual percentage yield of 1.00 percent. You can find savings interest rates higher than 1.00 percent but at least their rate is better than the national average.

• Balances of $4,000 to $49,999 - 0.25% Rate 0.25% APY

• Balances of $2,500 - $9,999 0.55% Rate 0.55% APY
• Balances of $10,000 - $24,999 0.65% Rate 0.65% APY
• Balances of $25,000 - $49,999 0.75% Rate 0.75% APY
• Balances of $50,000 - and over 0.95% Rate 0.95% APY

The minimum opening MMA account balance is $2,500. If your balance falls below $2,500, a $5 monthly fee will be charged but you still earn the same rate and yield.

Share Savings Accounts, Holiday Savings Accounts and Vacation Club Savings Accounts have a minimum opening deposit of $5.00. Smart Apple Savers Savings Accounts and Future Investors Club Savings Accounts have a minimum opening deposit of $10.00.
